The HP Compaq 100 Airlife certainly looks pretty. But the more we find out about the data, the more I’m doubting smartbook this first wave.
The Snapdragon 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM and 512MB flash memory (along with a 16GB SSD) are all well and good. But then came the resistive touch screen, the 16-bit TFT display and an unproven “Compaq touch experience” skin on the Android OS. What’s it all add up to be? Difficult to say without a test drive, but it’s not a great first volley over the bow of the IPAD, when Smart Books want to be a large tablet or netbook Alternative:
